Truncated-cones decanters are specially designed to achieve a high performance for solids sedimentation in primary processes of decantation of sands or large solids, biological treatments of active or activated sludge, secondary decanters underground in total oxidation treatment plants, tertiary treatments of purified waters, industrial physicochemical processes, depuration of clean water, etc.
Decanters have the function of storage and compaction, to increase their concentration of solid matter and reduce the volume of sludge to be treated.
Wastewater enters into decanter and travels down reassuring central cone. When water is leaving the cone, it remains resting, allowing then to the particles in suspension the precipitation and accumulation in the low part of the cone, from where they are sucked through the lower pipe of draining.
The clarified water is collected in the upper perimeter channel and channelled to the point of discharge.
In certain applications it is possible to accelerate the decanting process of the particles by means of the dosing of specific additives.
